A New Home for PAWS
Mission: To raise funds for a new facility that will enhance the care provided to companion animals in the Centre Region. Through passion and compassion, education and action, the dedicated volunteers of Centre County PAWS have been working for more than 25 years to place dogs and cats in loving homes, changing the region's attitudes toward pets and pet ownership. PAWS maintains a noneuthanasia animal shelter, administers a spay/neuter assistance program, an educational outreach program and emergency medical aid funding.
For the past twenty-five years the volunteers of Centre County PAWS have made do with very little. They have worked tirelessly to offer spay/neuter assistance in our community, rescued thousands of animals, searched endlessly for foster families willing to foster its dogs, raised funds dollar by dollar to be able to continue operating. However, as many animals as they help, PAWS is forced to turn even more away because of the lack of adequate space and an insufficient operating budget.
PAWS is building a new, permanent facility to continue its work and meet the growing need for animal aid and assistance.
In 2005 PAWS launched an ambitious campaign to raise funds for a new facility to be built on land that has already been donated for this cause. PAWS broke ground for its new 13,000-square-foot facility off Trout Road in State College on September 14, 2006. The grand opening of the new facility will be Saturday, September 29, 2007, at 11:00 am!
To date, more than $1.4 million has been raised for the project, but we are not there yet. PAWS needs your help. The abandoned, sick, homeless, and neglected animals that need your help can't ask for themselves – so we are asking for them. Please consider being a part of the solution.
