A bit of dog history
Scientists believe that the modern dog, Canis familiaris, evolved from Miacis, a creature resembling a weasel that hunted small prey on the earth some 40 million years ago. By about 15 million years ago, Miacis had evolved into the wolflike Tomarctus, which gave rise to the current canine species, including dogs, wolves, coyotes, jackals, and foxes."If you take a dog which is starving and feed him and make him prosperous, that dog will not bite you. 2010 PAWS Pet Extravaganza
Sunday, September 26, 2010, 11 am to 4 pm, at Penn State's Snider Ag Arena
Fun for the entire family!
Centre County PAWS is holding its 11th annual Pet Extravaganza on Sunday, September 26, 2010, 11 am to 4 pm, at Penn State's Snider Ag Arena. Admission is free, although donations are encouraged and appreciated. Pets are welcome as long as they are on leashes or in carriers and have proof of a current rabies vaccination.
Select PAWS cats and dogs will be present and adoption applications will be available. Dogs will be in the main arena. Cats will be in the main area and in a separate "cat room" near the front entrance.
This year's Pet Extravaganza will once again have a rabies vaccination clinic, microchip clinic, many interesting demonstrations, a variety of fun and educational contests and events, silent auction, and raffle. More information will be posted on our website as it becomes available.

Stop in at PAWS between July 14th and August 24th to vote for this year's logo for the Pet Extravaganza. The winning logo from the 2009 Extravaganza is shown above. Logo designs for this year are posted on the wall in the dog and cat wings. Voting slips are at the front desk. Record the number of your favorite design and place the slip in the containers. Remember you can only vote once so make it count!
