The problem of animal overpopulation is widespread and affects Centre County on a daily basis. While PAWS strives to rescue and rehome as many dogs and cats as possible, we simply do not have the capability to accept every single animal that comes our way. Our cage and kennel space is limited. We are happy to add new applicants to our waiting list, but because of its length we actively encourage owners to seek alternatives.
We ask that potential applicants familiarize themselves with the following information before contacting PAWS to assist our volunteers in the time and effort they spend with each caller.

If you see someone dumping an animal, please call the police. Not only does this leave the animal defenseless, hungry, without shelter, and at high risk of injury or death, it is illegal and dumpers are subject to fines and jail time.
To leave a message about surrendering an animal to Centre County PAWS, please call (814) 237-8722. Please remember that the members of Centre County PAWS are unpaid volunteers. We do our best to process applications, phone calls, and adoptions in a timely manner. Please allow several days for us to respond to your inquiry. Thank you.
