Lou Lou

Hello! My name is Lou Lou and I am a 7-year-old spayed Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix who weighs 15 pounds. I am very smart and already know commands for sit, shake, and dance! I am both house broken and crate trained, using a wire crate. I came to PAWS with my son, Merphy. Although I can be adopted separately from him, I would really like to be adopted with him since I have spent the last six years of my life with him. I tend to playfully nip when I want attention. so I may be better off in a home without very young children. I am good with other dogs, but it is unknown whether I am good with cats or not. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm. Click on my picture to see even more adorable photos of me!

Bones

Hey there! My name is Bones and I am a very friendly 8-year-old Yellow Lab who weighs 63 pounds. I came to Centre County PAWS from the Huntington Humane Society. When I was found, I was very skinny, but I am gaining weight very quickly. Since I was originally a stray, I will only be placed in a home with older or no children. I am good with other dogs; however, it is unknown how I am with cats. I am very smart and already know commands for "sit", "down", and "speak". At this point, the PAWS volunteers are unsure whether I am house broken and crate trained or not. However, they think that I probably am. I will need to be neutered prior to adoption. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Wiley

Hello! My name is Wiley. I am a 5-year-old neutered German Shepherd/Husky mix who weighs about 90 pounds. Unlike the famous cartoon star, Wile E. Coyote, I am very sweet, gentle, and obedient. I LOVE to cuddle on the couch with my foster mom and have my belly scratched. I not only love attention, I crave it. I am house trained and can be left alone in the house without any problems. I am great with dogs of all sizes, but I do have a strong prey drive, so I need to be kept on a leash or in a fenced in yard at all times. In the past, I did snap at someone, but that was a very unusual circumstance and I haven’t been aggressive towards people since. I am looking for a home without cats and with older or no children. My foster mom reports that I am an absolute joy to have around. Recently, I ruptured my ACL, which PAWS took care of! Since I am completely recovered, I am ready for my new forever home. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at the center during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Oreo

Hello! My name is Oreo and I am a 2-year-old Husky/Pointer mix who weighs 55 pounds. I came to Centre County PAWS from the Central PA Humane Society. I was surrendered by my owners because I was too big for the family. Even though I may be big, I am very friendly and get along with children, other dogs, and even cats! I am also both house broken and crate trained. Right now, I have very bad dry skin, which the PAWS volunteers are helping me with a proper diet that includes fish oil. I am also thin, so I will need to put on a little bit of weight. Prior to adoption, I will need to be neutered. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Psy

Hello! My name is Psy and I am a 5-year-old Long Haired German Shepherd who weighs 65 pounds. I was originally a breeding dog, but my owner moved and couldn't take me with her. I am a very laid back dog who loves to be babied. I can be skittish around loud noises, but I warm up very quickly. I am very friendly and am good with children, other dogs, and even cats! I am also both house broken and crate trained. I will need to be spayed prior to adoption. Recently, I tested positive for Canine Heartworm, which I am undergoing treatment for. Because of this, I will not be available for adoption until I am all better. Heartworm is completely preventable and treatment is difficult for the dog and very costly for the owner. So, I strongly encourage you to talk to your vet about how to keep your dog healthy, happy, and heartworm free! If you would like to donate to my treatment, please click on the blue heart next to my picture. PAWS is hoping to raise $500 to cover the cost of my treatment. I am living in a foster home until I am available for adoption.

Hello! My name is Jenny and I am a 1.5-year-old spayed Boxer/Ridgeback mix who weighs 50 pounds. I have completed lots of training and know several commands. I am both house broken and crate trained. I would really like to be placed in a household where I am the only pet. I am not very good with strangers because I tend to become very protective of my owners. Because of this, I will only be placed in a home without children. I need a family who has had lots of dog experience to help me overcome my over-protective behavior. I am living at the center so I can be seen anytime that PAWS is open.

Bailey

Hi! My name is Bailey and I am a happy 6-year-old neutered Lab/Spaniel mix who weighs 60 pounds. I am very sweet and love to climb into laps to snuggle. I can be scared of younger children, so I will only be placed in a home with older or no children. I would also prefer to be the only pet in the house. Although I am not crate trained, I have very good manners and can be trusted in the house alone. I am also house broken. I have been patiently waiting for my forever home for a long time and I hope that I will find my special someone very soon. Upon adoption, my adopted and I will receive FREE training classes. I am proud to say that I have already started training through the PAWS Pet Partner Program. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Cookie

Hi! My name is Cookie. I am a very sweet 3-year-old spayed Miniature Pinscher/Beagle mix who weighs 25 pounds. I absolutely LOVE to play, especially with plush toys; they’re my favorite! Even though I like to play, I am also a cuddle-bug. I like to rest my head on shoulders and I even like to be held! I also like to crawl under the covers and be cuddled! In my previous home, I was mistreated by children, so now I am looking for a home with older or no children. I am good with other dogs, but I am not so good with cats. I also tend to chase rabbits when I am on a leash; I just can’t help myself! I don’t mean to brag, but I am a very smart girl. I am both house broken and crate trained. I also know commands for "sit", "speak", "go to bed" and "high-5"! In my foster home, I am working on the command for "down". I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Murphy

Hey there! My name is Murphy. I am a 2-year-old neutered German Shepherd mix who weighs 56 pounds. I am very energetic and strong, so I will need an active family. I am very friendly with all people, but I need an adopter who will be willing to continue to work on socializing me with other dogs. Right now, I do not enjoy the company of other animals. Since I came to PAWS as a stray, I will only be placed in a home with older or no children. I am both house broken and crate trained. I have begun training through the PAWS Pet Partner Program! In this program, I have been proving to be a very smart dog who thrives from learning new commands and skills. So far, I have been working on commands for "sit", "stay", "leave it", and "paw". I have also been working on my leash walking skills and now I walk like a dream with my Pet Partner, while using the Gentle Leader. I am living at the center, so I can be seen anytime that PAWS is open.

Precious

Hi! My name is Precious. I am a very quiet and easy-going 6-year-old Border Collie/Shar Pei mix who weighs 61 pounds. I am good with children, other dogs, and I am even good with cats! Like many other dogs, I need to work on my crate training skills. Therefore, I am looking for a family who will be willing to help me with this. Since coming to PAWS, I found out that the reason I hadn't been feeling well in my old home is because I am diabetic. The volunteers say that they can work with me to feel better and that even though I have this medical quirk, a nice person is going to adopt me soon. I sure hope so! Right now, I am very skinny, so I am happily working on gaining weight. I will be spayed prior to adoption and will have my nails trimmed. You see, my nails are so long and overgrown that they are crossing one another. In fact, it would be too painful to cut them while I'm awake. Because we are working on managing my diabetes, I wouldn't be available to be adopted just yet but the volunteers are still accepting applications on me. If you aren't in a position to adopt me, you can help by donating toward my care. PAWS is looking to raise $80 a month to treat my diabetes. I am living in a foster home.  Click on my picture to see even more adorable pictures of me!

Treasure

Hello! My name is Treasure and I am a spayed Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix who weighs about 55 pounds. I am proud to say that I am both house broken and crate trained, using a wire crate. I can be shy at times around new people and may even bark, but when I warm up to them, I am really sweet. I can be fearful of some men. I am looking for a home with no children. Even though I like to play with other dogs, I am looking for a home where I can be the only pet. I am full of young energy, so my new owner and I will be provided with FREE training classes upon adoption. I will need a patient owner who will use positive reinforcement and kindness. I promise to pay you back with a thousand kisses! I can be a real snuggle bug. I love to lay my head in laps and cuddle when I am tired. I have already begun training through the PAWS Pet Partner Program! So far, I have been working on my leash training. My Pet Partner says that I am walking very well on the leash and am building my confidence. I am living at the center, so I can be seen anytime that PAWS is open!

Sonny

Will you please help us find a home for Sonny? We love her dearly and want to see her in a home of her own, but she is looking for a very special, loving, dedicated owner. PAWS is offering free one-on-one behavioral training for Sonny to help her succeed in her new home. Sonny is an 8-year-old spayed Pomeranian who weighs 17 pounds. Sonny is mostly housebroken and is completely crate trained. Sonny needs to be an only pet, or needs to be adopted by someone willing to very slowly integrate her into the household with another pet. Sonny needs a quiet home without children.

When Sonny is alone with her person, she is the happiest and most easy to care for dog in the world. But, Sonny becomes protective of her handler when other people are around. This behavior is a result of years of protective guarding being positively reinforced. The same behavior probably once regarded as "cute" because she's so small, has now caused Sonny to become highly anxious and feel that she has to protect her person. It's very sad that Sonny was never given the training she deserved to make her a confident dog.  PAWS has been working with Sonny under the instruction of local behaviorist, Megan Maxwell, and using a Thundershirt during her training. She has been responding very well and has lots of love to give to anyone willing to give her a chance. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Sonny, please contact PAWS at dogs@centrecountypaws.org about the application process.

Paisley

Hi! My name is Paisley and I am an adorable 6-year-old spayed Pug mix. I am a sweet little girl who loves to be held! I am also very friendly and am good with other dogs, children, and cats! I was rescued from a bad situation and didn't feel well when I arrived, but my PAWS friends helped me fully recover! I will need an owner who will be willing to work with me on crate training because crates make me nervous; however I am doing very well with my crate training in my foster home. I love belly rubs and will express my thanks when you do it. I sleep in a dog bed in my foster family's bedroom and sleep the whole night through. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Fred - ADOPTION PENDING

Hello! My name is Fred and I am a 4-month-old Border Collie mix who weighs 26.9 pounds. I am a very nice and friendly boy, but I have been a little scared since my owner went into the hospital. In my foster home, I am working on my house breaking and crate training skills. Therefore, I am looking for a family who will be willing to continue working on these skills with me. Clementine - ADOPTION PENDING

Hey there! My name is Clementine. I am a very sweet 2.5-year-old spayed American Bulldog mix who weighs about 48 pounds. I am very friendly and am good with other dogs and cats! I have been around children as young as 4 and do well with them, so I can be placed in a home with children about 4 and up. No children? Well that's okay by me, I like grown up people just fine too! I absolutely LOVE to cuddle on the couch! The PAWS volunteers say that I am a very smart girl because I am both house broken and crate trained and I am doing a great job at learning commands like "sit" and "come". You have probably noticed from my picture that my skin doesn't look exactly normal, like most other dogs. Well, I am most likely suffering from a non-contagious mite, but the PAWS volunteers are helping me by providing me with medication that will make me feel better! The volunteers also got rid of all my itchy, itchy fleas and just when I thought they couldn't get any nicer, they gave me my own private room at PAWS where I can recover. Otis - ADOPTION PENDING

Hello there! My name is Otis. I am a very sweet 12-year-old neutered Beagle mix who weighs 47 pounds. I am very calm, so I would make an excellent companion for anyone! I am good with children, other dogs, and even cats. I am house broken, but I still need some work on crate training. When I am left in a house alone, I behave perfectly. I was surrendered to PAWS because I was living in an apartment and had separation anxiety. Because of this, I became very stressed in a crate. In my new foster home with two other dogs and a cat, I have not shown any signs of separation anxiety. Therefore, I think that I would do best in a house with another pet. Even though I am an older gentleman, I still have lots of energy and LOVE to take long walks. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm – 2pm.

Hi! My name is Roxy. I am a very sweet and friendly 4-month-old Border Collie/Shepherd mix puppy. I am good with other dogs and cats, although I really like to chase and play with cats. In my previous home, I was herding the younger children and showing some signs of fear. Therefore, I may do better in a home with older children. I am both house broken and crate trained. In my foster home, I have not destroyed anything in the house and I am very good at staying off of the furniture. As long as I have lots of toys to play with and chew on, I will not chew household items. I especially love playing with my foster brother!
