AmberAmber's bio at the time of adoption: Female-spayed, Domestic Shorthair~DOB: 09/01/02 Meet Amber, the gal with the Maybelline eyes! And what gorgeous, naturally-lined eyes they are….totally befitting of an extraordinarily lovely girl. Amber and fellow housemates, Sugar and Spice, found themselves suddenly orphaned with the unexpected passing of their devoted mom. Understandably frightened and confused when they first arrived at PAWS, they curled tightly in their beds or litterboxes hoping no one would see them. Amber was the first to blossom, and she continues to blossom daily as she freely explores one of the sunrooms at the new adoption center. One of the first things we learned about Amber is that she must have trained with the Manhattan skywalker! She loves to climb to the very highest place in the room, and watching her do it is amazing! She is the epitome of grace, agility and absolute control. From her enclosure (which is left open so she can come and go), she leaps to the top of the freely-swinging open door, tightropes along the narrow, rounded rim, finally positioning herself to vault to the shelf-like area high atop the row of cages. One misstep and she’d go tumbling to the floor, but not Amber! How does she ever get down? Same process in reverse. First seen in her previous home on the railing of a second floor balcony, Amber presumably has had lots of practice. Amber is telling us, of course, that one absolute requirement of her next home is a very tall cat climber, a balcony, high open shelving….something WAY up where she can contentedly sit and watch the world go by. A sweet and lovable girl, Amber is unusual too --- orange-colored females are few and far between. She won’t be with us long, so come and meet her NOW. Meet Sugar and Spice while you’re at it. |

Aretha and ShaniaAretha and Shania's bio at the time of adoption: Females, Domestic ShorthairDOB: 07/17/07 Left: Aretha Right: Shania Aretha and Shania are such a cute pair, but they may be adopted separately. They are the only little singers left from mom, Madonna's, musical litter. Here's what foster mom had to say on October 25th, 2007: "They may be named Shania and Aretha, but they could be Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen singing “Sisters” in the movie White Christmas. They are extremely close, often making synchronized movements in perfect unison, and they are fun personified. Shania and Aretha are very affectionate, easily handled, very neat and clean, curious, outgoing and agreeable, no matter the circumstances. They are a pure delight in their foster home." Aretha and Shania find being at the center on the weekends somewhat boring. Please click for the larger photo to see them wide awake and active. A visit with you in one of the Meet and Greet rooms at the adoption center would no doubt result in seeing these two playful gals in action. |

AustinAustin's bio at the time of adoption: Male (neutered), long hair, deafApproximate DOB: 06/11/01 Austin is deaf, but that doesn't keep him from being quite a character and very loving and lovable. His foster mom at Stone Valley Pet Lodge wrote: "Austin is extremely friendly and affectionate. He loves Fancy Feast and even though he is deaf, he watches our body language and does what we ask. " Talk about Fancy Feast, Austin looks exactly like the Fancy Feast cat. Sitting on an empty shelf just under the Fancy Feast display at Wiscoy, what a sight he was....and what a perfect advertisement for the product! Of course, we didn't have a camera in hand at the time. If you think you're the one to make Austin's dreams come true, please know that all that lovely fur requires good grooming practices by his adopter. And because he is deaf, he is easily startled. You will need to learn how best to approach him, especially when he's snoozing or is facing away from you and won't hear you coming. |

BondBond's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, Domestic Medium HairApproximate DOB: 08/02/04 In this photo, Bond, as in James 007, appears to be reading a brochure on a pet photo contest, thinking: "Boy, soon as I gain some weight and recover from the hard knocks of being on my own, I'll bet I could win that contest!" Well you must see him now! With good food and much TLC, Bond is thriving. No question he qualifies as a calendar cat! And he's super affectionate too. This --using James Bond movie titles--just in from his foster mom: Bond..... James Bond The World is Not Enough for this feline incarnation of 007. Bond is ready to play Casino Royale with your heart. His charming personality will have you ready to Die Another Day if you continue to live without him. His Golden Eye (s) will draw you in as he head-butts your hand for more attention. PAWS is proud to host this James Bond as he waits for The Spy Who Loved Me. The only way Bond might Scare the Living Daylights out of you is when he leaps into bed just after the lights go out to snuggle in for a good night's sleep. After recovering from a difficult start in life, (he was found as a stray, very underweight), he enjoys playing with people and cats alike, proving You Only Live Twice , so make the most of it! Come visit Bond at the PAWS adoption center where he has A View to (a) Kill for. Don't say Dr. No to this bighearted gentle giant . He is ready and waiting to become For Your Eyes Only. |

BooBoo's bio at the time of adoption: Female (spayed), Domestic ShorthairDOB: 04/18/07 Here's dear little Boo peeking out from under her coverings. She's the same gal who was previously listed with her then tiny-tot brothers, Teddy and Shadow. Boo wants to find her very own loving home while she's still a kitten and can do all those kittenish things to amuse you! She's nervous on adoption days at the center (at the new, 10-times-bigger- than-the-old center, what cat wouldn't be nervous?). In her foster home, though, she's a typical happy, playful, delightful kitten. |

(Hooray...B & J went home together)! |

BoomerBoomer's bio at the time of adoption: Male (neutered), Domestic ShorthairDOB: 05/10/06 Boomer is a growing boy. He's just as sweet as he can be and despite his name, he prefers purring to loud sounds. He especially doesn't like the "loud sounds" of barking dogs....for that matter, he doesn't like dogs period, as we learned from a recent foster placement . So no dogmates for this fellow, please. Boomer had no problem with foster mom's cats and, in fact, got along well with them, so he says cats are OK.

BuddyBuddy's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, Domestic ShorthairAge: 5 years, Front Declawed Buddy is new to PAWS. Here is foster mom's first report: Buddy, one of the Center's gentlemen (i.e., gentle men) this year, could also be called Barnacle Buddy because of his "sticking" so closely to his foster parents. He acts as though he just can't get close enough. Very scared at the Center, he came into our home and immediately relaxed, purred until he nearly choked himself, daintily dined on his feline cuisine, and snuggled up with us for an evening of petting, brushing, and getting to know each other. We have since learned that he is a lap cat (if your lap is big enough) and needs no discipline or training whatsoever. Buddy is completely unruffled by anything that might frighten another cat. He interacts positively with our two resident cats, and is proving to be a perfect, well-mannered companion who would rather be with his foster parents than off doing his own thing. He's anxious to find his forever home so he can practice "sticking" to his forever parent(s). |

Button, Spot, Stinker, OrcaButton, Spot, Stinker, Orca's bio at the time of adoption: Males, Domestic Shorthairs, DOB: 04/15/07From front to back: Stinker is all black on the top of his head. Button has the black dot on his nose and face. Spot has a spot on his leg. From foster mom: When our foster mom first saw us, she couldn't believe how cute we were! And we think that you may agree, right??? Here is what we have to say... (Button) I was the first to be named, because of my "button nose"! (Spot) You can't see it, but when you come to meet me, I will show you my spot! (Orca) Now, see I am special, because I am named after a killer whale! (Stinker) and then there is me, my mom really thought that we looked like a bunch of skunks. And since she couldn't name me 'skunker,' she looked at me and said you are just a little "Stinker". I just snickered to myself when she named me that because now I had a reason that I could be mischievous! Come on in and see how cute we are! |

CedarCedar's bio at the time of adoption: Female-spayed, Domestic ShorthairDOB: 03/02, front declawed Cedar is a pretty torbie....a striking combination of tortie and tabby. She has a sweet and still playful way about her as many adult cats do. As a newbie to the Center, she has spent a good part of her time under her bed and blanket rather than on top of it. But when she emerges, she tells us she's not shy at all! She bumps and rubs, purrs and head butts....perhaps she's just one of those "people" who like to sleep with the covers pulled up over their heads....specially in the damp, chilly days of autumn. Cedar isn't real fond of being picked up -- she'd rather come and settle in with you, which she will do quite readily if you just let it up to her. Carriers are not her favorite thing, but she's got a lot of company there! Looking for a mature, well-behaved, loving companion? Look no further. Cedar's your gal! |

ChapinChapin's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, Domestic Medium HairDOB: 08/15/05 Meet Chapin! He's not the spikey punk-haired kid he looks like in this photo. He arrived at PAWS with his coat in sad condition, but already it's becoming elegant and shiny once again, as you can see by clicking for the larger photo. Another lucky PAWS kitty to spend the holidays in a foster home, Chapin won foster mom's heart from the get-go!
"Oh, wow, this guy is so ready for his Forever Home! He is the sweetest, most affectionate fellow to ever grace our home. Within a day of his arrival, he let it be known (loudly, so you know!) that he didn’t want to be in a cage, or for that matter, in a separate room. With fingers crossed, the door was opened to the wide world of 8 other cats and a dog. Chapin was totally cool and immediately made himself at home. --Diane

ChayanneChayanne's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, Domestic ShorthairDOB: 02/15/06 Dear "little" Chayanne! During our Fall "pumpkin" promotion, Chayanne was dubbed the "Great Pumpkin in Waiting"! Chayanne was the lone orange tabby in Selena's 7 kitten litter that is pictured on the "Kittens" post at the bottom of the page. He's grown quite a bit since that photo was taken and promises to be a pretty BIG fellow. (At 10 months of age, he tips the scales at a whopping 12.5 lbs.)! Where in the world did he get that name, you ask? According to the volunteer who named him, all 7 kittens were named after Latin singers. And it's pronounced Cayenne...as in the pepper...although his foster mom says he'll answer to anything! Chayanne is a handsome, funny, playful, growing boy who absolutely loves attention but can keep himself entertained without humans too. Why not have some fun and adopt the future Great Pumpkin? |

ColaCola's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, domestic shorthairDOB: ~07/20/06 This handsome grey and white tabby with touches of beige is a purr machine from his dark little nose to the snow white tip of his very long tail. He's an active, energetic boy who likes attention. The word "rambunctious" fits him to a "t". He thinks he's king of the center, but he's a very lovable people-friendly king. And to think he started out as a frightened kitten! If you're looking for lots of fun and energy in a cat, Cola's your boy. |

ColeusColeus's bio at the time of adoption: Sweet Pea's Flower Kittens's bio at the time of adoption: D.O.B. 6-27-07With a mom named Sweet Pea, flower names for these little ones are appropriate indeed! But.... oh dear! One of them has a green ear! And another one has a red ear! What in the world did these kittens get into? Here's what foster mom (who color coded their ears so she could tell them apart :) has to say about them: Kittens Sweet Pea’s six kittens are extraordinary (foster parent bias, of course). They are very happy kittens and, unlike most litters that “pair up”, they have all remained extremely close. They are active, playful, curious, spirited, intelligent, well socialized and looking forward to expanding their horizons in homes of their own. Coleus (Cole—gray with red ear mark)—the first of the litter to do everything; the first to eat solid food, drink water from a bowl, use the litterbox, give himself a little kitty bath, explore his room, thus setting the example for his brothers and sisters. |

ColumbusColumbus's bio at the time of adoption: Male, Domestic Shorthair~DOB: 07/11/07 Columbus is one of the "explorer" kittens along with siblings Maggie and Dora who was recently adopted. They earned their "explorer" title by going on their very own, very brave expedition within the safe confines of the intake room at PAWS. Ask a volunteer to tell you the story! Columbus will warm your heart with his loud purrs and snuggly ways. He loves attention once he realizes that you mean no harm. He likes to check things out and quickly adjusts to new situations. He even eats and drinks out of the same bowl (and at the same time!) with one of foster mom’s big dogs! |

CooperCooper's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic shorthair, Male-neuteredDOB: 08/17/03, Front declawed I'm a handsome, delightful, caramel tabby with white markings who'd love to be loved by you. It's okay here at PAWS, but it's pretty boring and for lack of exercise, I'm putting on too much weight! I need to run and play, do stairs, jump up on windowsills to watch the birds...all the good stuff you can't do here. I know my future family is out there somewhere, and I sure hope they help me fly this coop real soon.

CypressCypress's bio at the time of adoption: Female-spayed, Domestic Longhair~DOB: 08/21/03 This sweet and affectionate calico cat will be even more beautiful once her lovely coat grows back in. Some little leprechaun must have given her a clip job. All long haired cats require regular brushing and combing to save them from leprechauns having to remove uncomfortable and hopelessly matted fur.. Please consider this grooming requirement if you'd love to adopt this friendly, front declawed soon to be glamorous again cat. She's very sweet and gentle. |

DukeDuke's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, Domestic Shorthair, Front-declawedDOB: 07/11/04 Duke is such a nice guy and is just waiting to feel happy and secure in his new forever home. He's used to being a pet and is looking forward to being one again. He's extremely gentle. He might seem a little shy at first at the center, but if you want to see him perk up and love you immediately, just shake a bottle of Aquariyums cat treats and watch his reaction. In a home setting, Duke is very attention seeking and loves to play. |

Dune BuggyDune Buggy's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic longhair, male (neutered), front-declawedAge: 6-1/2 years How this quiet, gentle soul came to be named after a noisy little nuisance to peace-seeking beach goers is a mystery. If there's a story to tell and we find out what it is, we'll be sure to pass it along. Looking at "Dune" certainly does evoke images of sun, surf and, of course, the dunes. What a warm and lovable companion he'll be when he emerges from his hideaway in the sand. Dune Buggy is new to the center and is just a wee bit nervous. So he built a sand castle around and on top of himself with his beach towel and bed, his nose ever so occasionally coming up for air. He's receptive to attention, though, and gives every indication of having a wonderfully SOFT motor. More as we get to know this handsome boy. (And what a wonderful guy Dune turned out to be!) |

EbonyEbony's bio at the time of adoption: Male(n), black, front-declawedD.O.B. 7-4-99 Hi everyone….I’m back! Just couldn’t stay away! I actually missed this place and I especially missed my Lonely Hearts Club friends (although several of them are gone now). You may recall that I was the founder and first chair of “the Club”. In my absence Ginger and Lillian served quite capably in my stead, but now that they've both found homes of their own, I guess the gavel comes back to me. I'll do my best to follow in their footsteps (hopefully to a new home too!). What happened is that last fall, I went into “long-term foster care”. Whew, after a full year at the Center, I was outta here! Sometimes these arrangements end up being permanent, sometimes they don’t. You may remember Bo and Quaffle (now Ben) and Keno? They all were adopted by their long-term foster families. In my case, that didn’t happen, so here I am…again. At least I’m happy that the corner of the office desk was held open for me! Curling up there so I can help volunteers with their paperwork is my favorite pastime. For those of you who don’t know my story, I lost my original home because I have a common medical condition that requires a special diet and occasional medication if I have a flare-up. My owners had trouble with this and decided to have me euthanized, but fortunately, PAWS was there for me. My condition has been treated successfully by diet alone ever since I came here, and although I’d sure love to have something different to eat once in awhile, I understand that I can’t. Not even one treat. This is important. I’m a good guy…a little quiet, but after all, I’m not a kitten anymore. In my foster home, though, I loved swatting feathers on a stick, nailing a leather shoestring, and – my favorite – chasing the little red dot from a laser toy. I may not BE a kitten, but foster dad had me playing like one sometimes! Then I’d have to take a nap. I like to be petted, combed, and have someone to sit and talk to. I’m not a lap cat, but I do appreciate attention, intelligent discussion, and rubbing up against my person. I’d SO like to go to a real home, preferably a quiet one without small children or other animals. I’d be perfect for someone who works from home and spends a lot of desk or computer time. If someone has a spare corner of his (or her) desk, or needs a furry black paperweight, I’m your guy! Wherever I go, this time I want to stay forever. I know my special person is out there somewhere….I just hope he or she finds me soon. 1-5-07 -- "At last, at last, AT LAST! I knew the first day I walked into this new foster home that THIS IS THE ONE! This is the family who will love me and adopt me....and, ya know what? THEY DID! I'm so, so happy." -- EBONY |

EdwardEdward's bio at the time of adoption: Male (neutered), Domestic ShorthairDOB: ~08/04/06 "I've got big feet and an even bigger purr" is what Edward might say to you. He's polydactyl on his front paws and purrs loudly. Maybe he's named for Edward Scissorhands. Edward loves his brother, Gizmo, although they may be adopted separately, they'd make a great team to love. |

FernFern's bio at the time of adoption: Female (spayed), Domestic ShorthairDOB: 05/18/04 This lovely young momcat earned her name when a PAWS volunteer saw her in amongst the ferns at her parents' home. Fern had been in the neighborhood for awhile, but was too scared to come close to people. The volunteer decided it was time to take matters into her own hands when she saw two tiny kittens poking their heads out of the ferns as well. As scared as Fern was, she turned out to be a terrific and loving little cat. Her two adorable kittens, Lucy and Ethel, were adopted nearly immediately after being shown at PAWS. Now Fern is permanently out of the mom business and ready to reclaim the kittenhood she missed out on.

FridayFriday's bio at the time of adoption: Male (neutered), tabby & whiteD.O.B. 4/9/02 It’s “Friday!” TGIF :) Friday is one of those cats who never liked being at the Center. At first, it was his very male hormones causing him to bully the other cats. Once that was resolved and he’d spent quality time in a foster home, he just turned into an old grouch the minute his foster parents hauled out his carrier on Saturday mornings. HE knew where he was going! So he chose to remain an old grouch ‘til they came to retrieve him Sunday night, hoping he wouldn't be invited back ever again. Some of us humans probably would be grouchy too if we were on display here! In a relaxed household, Friday fits right in. His foster mom and dad AND their dog can vouch for that. He really is a TGIFridays kind of guy who would enjoy living in a laid-back atmosphere where he can play, pounce, explore, and then curl up next to his people when day is done. Is all the devilishness gone? Of course not…who wants a cat anyway that doesn’t have a certain amount of “catitude”? Friday spent the recent holiday break at the Center and…Good Friday!…a metamorphosis?? As one of just 9 cats staying at the “hotel”, Friday turned on the charm, relaxed, made himself at home and was just the best boy ever! He still preferred not to be caged, but he made no waves being out and about and he played quite nicely with the other cats. When it was time for him to go back to his hotel room, remarkably no fuss at all. Having previously resisted volunteers’ attempts to pick him up, he was totally cooperative. Hey, a really new and improved Friday! This is much more like the fellow he is at home…..what a huge hurdle for him to have overcome! Friday has been hangin’ on as a PAWS cat for far too long….it’ll be two years in April. If he can just manage to sustain his new Center profile when the place is crowded, maybe the right visitor will notice this really neat cat. Could you be the one who gets to wake up every day, look at this smart, handsome face, and whisper gratefully “TGIF”? AT LAST, Friday has found his forever home....with his loving, long-term foster family. He's officially been.... |

GabbyGabby's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic Shorthair, Female (spayed)DOB: 10/01/06 This shiny and sweet tuxedo is very affectionate, outgoing and loves to be petted. She likes being brushed and loves to play! She'll even dance on her hind legs to catch a dangling toy. Appropriately named, she is rather gabby and VERY curious....nosey? She absolutely must check everything out. An extra large litterbox is highly recommended for Gabby -- she scratches in her box with the same degree of enthusiasm she shows for everything else. She's also very good about using her scratching post. Gabby came to the Center with her good friend Mailee, but Mailee has gone to a new home without her. Gabby's pretty confused at the moment, but eventually, we're sure she wouldn't mind finding a new buddy....human, feline or BOTH! |

I could have been, but times were tough and I had a job to do raising my babies. I was a wonderful mom and my kittens became stars instead and are featured on PAWS notecards! Wow, am I ever a proud mom! But now it’s my turn. I would love to light up the stage in your home and give you lots of love.I’m a wonderful gal and I need a forever home. It doesn’t even have to have a stage in it for me to shine. All I need is a loving home and loving people to call my own." |

HamptonHampton's bio at the time of adoption: Female (spayed), Domestic ShorthairThis beautiful little shorthaired cat was found shivering in subzero temperatures under a car in the parking lot of Hampton Inn on the morning of February 6. Despite efforts to locate her owner, no one has come forward, so Hampton (good name for her, don't you think?) is now a PAWS kitty and is available for adoption. Just in from Hampton's foster mom... Hampton was spayed on the 26th of Feb. She is interacting with my cats and is 90% ok with my dog now. She has calmed down some and likes to sleep on my bed or sit on my lap when I am in my office. She is a sweatheart, still loving the laser pointer and chasing around the house with the younger of my two cats. |

HanoverHanover's bio at the time of adoption: Male, Domestic Shorthair~DOB: 08/02/07 Hanover, found alone as a 3-week old kitten at Hanover plant in Centre Hall, was merged with Sweet Pea's flower kittens & quickly became the pampered little brother. A quick study, he learned feline behavior from his new brothers and sisters & then added his own special panache. Initially his foster family dubbed him "Dozer" because he had the strength and pushing ability of a bulldozer, but they soon came to realize those qualities were coupled with an indomitable spirit and determination. Wide awake & lots of fun, he can fall asleep in an instant, preferably in his foster's dad's arms. This tiny tike will bring loads of love and laughter to his forever family. |

HarmonyHarmony's bio at the time of adoption: Female-Spayed, Domestic MediumhairApproximate age: 8-10 years old "A gentle and loving little cat." Harmony's original listing was this one line and it still holds true. Look who's back! It's Harmony! This dear little cat has had quite a long journey since arriving at PAWS in January of 2006. After learning that she had some health issues, she went into a long-term foster home for what we thought would be hospice care. But, miracle of miracles, our Harmony has just now been given a clean bill of health! This in no small measure is due to the loving, good, and persistent care of her foster mom and to medical care and advice too, of course. Her vet thinks she can be someone's loving companion for another 10 or more years!
